Peace of mind. Knowing that you are not passing an STD to your loved ones is important. Many STD’s have few or no symptoms and are passed from person to person through intimate contact, unintentionally. If you have symptoms, or if you think you may have been exposed to a sexually transmitted disease, you should be tested to insure your health and the health of your partner other is not at risk.
If you plan to have children. Some STD’s can be passed to your children during childbirth, causing a range of complications for your child. If you think you may have been exposed to an STD, you should be tested and treated to avoid passing infections on to your baby.
Did my doctor test me? Many health practitioners do not test you for common sexually transmitted diseases during a physical exam unless you request it.
How is testing done? There are many ways to test for sexually transmitted diseases. Our office uses blood and or urine testing to determine if you test positive for an infection.
Is it possible to have more than one kind of STD? Yes, often if one STD is present the odds of another STD being present are higher.
Can I test for just one? You may choose to have one or more tests completed. You may request an entire STD Panel at a reduced rate, if you wish to rule them all out.
